At its core, Jesse Slack’s brand of country music echoes carefree, summer-time vibes that make you want to turn it up to eleven, roll down the windows and sing your heart out.
The Ontario-based singer-songwriter has been making waves with his delicate blend of heartfelt melodies, meaningful lyrics and harmonies that reel you in like a fish on a hook. Above all, his music is often praised for its high level of intimacy and familiar themes that find their way to a special place in the listener’s heart.
Growing up in Peterborough, Ontario, Jesse would find himself experimenting with and being immersed in a range of styles of music. Through a combination of the influence passed down from his lineage of musical parents, and being inspired by the quaint but charismatic ‘big small town’ vibes of Peterborough, Jesse has carved out a niche for himself in the burgeoning country music scene.
2018 saw the release of Jesse’s debut EP ‘Young And Free’, produced in Nashville with Aaron Goodvin and Julian King. Not one to stop and smell the roses, he has followed up his EP with two further singles ‘Mustang’ co-written with Rick Huckaby, and ‘Take Me To It’ co-written with Tori Tullier. He has since been chipping away at his next full-length release back in Canada, which will feature Adam Newcomb on production duties. Sonically, it is a return to form for the artist, as he cites that simply the act of being back in his home of Canada allows for a purer, more authentic form of expression. Stay tuned for further release details, including tour dates in a city near you. In the meantime, jump into Jesse Slack’s musical diary by heading to his Spotify.
Mackenzie Leigh Meyer
As a 2019 CMA Ontario nominee for “Roots Artist of the Year” and recent Artist of the Month, up and comer Mackenzie Leigh Meyer is already getting industry nods for her unique style and enchanting vocals.
Since the May 2018 release of her debut EP “Dive Bar Diva”, the Hamilton, ON native has caught the attention of quite a few country music fans. With her song “Your Company” featured on ET Canada and and more than 182,000 views on her YouTube, it’s no shocker that renowned producer Ken Scott (David Bowie, Supertramp) exclaimed “ Watch out Carrie Underwood” after working with Meyer on EP favourite “Should Have Known”.
But if you’ve ever seen this Steeltown artist live, you’d know her writing isn’t the only thing worth bragging about. Her vibrant stage presence and dynamic live show has been wowing audiences on some of country music’s favourite stages like Boots and Hearts, Havelock Jamboree, Lucknow’s Music in the Fields and many more. As an honours Humber Music Degree graduate and busy professional musician/entertainer in the off-season, to say that Mackenzie has continually been honing her craft while living up to her “Dive Bar Diva” identifier, is an understatement.
Currently, Mackenzie is working on new music that will be her debut release to country radio this Spring. Partnering up with Jeff Dalziel (2018/2019 CCMA & CMA Ontario Producer of the Year) you won’t want to miss what Mackenzie has in store.

Drawing heavily from the Canadian post-hardcore exports of the 00’s and Toronto’s current R&B scene, this Waterloo four-piece leave us certain of one thing: romancer knows how to create a moment. Whether it be a crowd pleasing melodic tantrum of intricate guitar work and pounding percussion, or a euphoric slow burn towards the mother-of-all punk rock crescendos, this band delivers. It's no question why they've been solicited to open for established live bands like Counterparts, Belmont, and Free Throw, as well as several successful tours south of the Canadian border. Recently, romancer have been consistently honing their craft, writing new songs and have released a live session to showcase their hard work. They’re gearing up for a massive 2020.

Punchu is an indie rock band formed the summer of 2017 in Oshawa, Ontario. They are an eclectic mix of post-punk, prog, new wave and jazz influenced instrumentation. Their lyrics are what can be described as emo satire, getting serious with heavy topics such as baseball, Canadian living, not being fish, the moral status of stepping on ants, and most importantly: their love of food. Their live show is an energetic set of music and stage antics. Punchu has begun preparations to record their debut album set for 2020.
